We encountered some problems after upgrading our Wordpress installation to 2.3.2 on Thursday night. Thanks for bearing with us while we figured everything out. While updating, we added some other plugins we think our readers will find interesting. Additionally, you may notice a completely revamped sidebar. We’ll go over the changes after the jump.
Login/Registration Bar
Before the update, signing in to New School Politics required scrolling down to the “Meta” widget in our sidebar. While it wasn’t that big of an issue, we’ve added a login/registration bar at the top of the screen. Hopefully you’ll find it easier to login and comment!

Sidebar Widget Removal
As we haven’t quite kept up to date with the earlier promised book reviews, we’re removing the Shelfari widget that showcased what we were reading. We’ve also gotten rid of the Newsvine presidential polling widget, which, while useful, took up too much space in our sidebar.

Sidebar Additions
We replaced the two above widgets with the latest news from The New York Times, an easier way to subscribe to our feeds, and the ability to translate New School Politics into ten languages [besides English].

We’ve also added some stuff to the end of posts to enable you to do more with our content, including a piece from Sphere and ShareThis.
To see the following screen, in order to share your posts on social websites like del.icio.us and Digg, along with e-mailing, just click on the

The
widget places an overlay on the screen that gives related media content, along with related content from liberal, conservative, and middle-of-the-road blogs.

Conclusion
We hope you enjoy our new tools, and we’ll be adding more features in the future to help you use New School Politics. We’ll be back with some more articles today, and a big announcement coming up in the next week, so stay tuned!
