Lieberman Endorses McCain

Big news this morning as Sen. Joe Lieberman endorsed Sen. McCain for president. CT’s junior Senator spoke for John McCain at a rally in New Hampshire today. In my opinion it is moving to see an endorsement of such magnitude cross party lines, although I must say that it cannot sit well with the other senator from CT, Sen. Chris Dodd, who is running for president as a Democrat.

Dodd probably should have thought of that when he sat
Anthony Marenna | 22 12 2007Dodd probably should have thought of that when he sat back and did nothing during CT’s Democrat Primary for Senator. Dodd’s endorsement sure would have been helpful at that point.
I think Lieberman is being less reluctant to stab Democrats in the back since they betrayed him so badly during his last election. And who can blame him?

great to see you on our site. I’ve been keeping up with your blog as well. Hope all is well, btw how is the PAC going?
On Dodd, he did endorse Ned Lemont which of course has put him in a hard spot with Lieberman.
Lieberman has been hawkish on the war and will be able to keep his reputation now that the surge is working so well. It may mean that he will become an even more important player if the Republicans win some seats in the senate or house next year. His vote’s on a number of issues could be vital to both partys.
I also think that McCain will gain some serious momentum. As someone with a horse in this race already I can say that McCain would be my second option. Despite his stance on immigration, his calls for changes in Iraq early on were correct and it says something about his character that he was willing to stake his political reputaiton on what he knew was right.
