I have posted three videos which are of significance to the presidential race since last week.

First, is Ann Coulter speaking at CPAC. She has recently made news for announcing that she would support Hillary Clinton over John McCain in a general election. While there are many laughs to around at the prospect of this, it does raise a serious point: whether a general election whooping can discipline and improve the party in the long run; and moreover, whether a party member should vote against their nominee if the nominee shies from their views.

This is likely to be the key question for conservatives this election cycle. My own thoughts are yes; and yes. But in this case I, personally, am still inclined to vote for McCain because I do not think that his taste for reducing (or not) the size of government differs significantly from any other viable candidates who ran for the nomination (save the great Ron Paul). A scenario where I would have voted against the Republican candidate is if Huckabee was nominated for the sake of castigating Republicans for getting too religious.

Anyways, the video is entertaining. Much of it is quite funny, some is not all that “appropriate,” but you should judge for yourself.

The below video has been circulating on the internet a lot in the past week. It is a musical rendition of Obama’s “Yes, we can” stump speech independently produced by a number of celebrities. Not surprisingly, it seems to have particularly struck a cord with the young (on YouTube for instance). It’s only noteworthy for that reason, but don’t expect anything of substance (other than Scarlett Johansen’s exceptional good looks). I am finding more and more that I shouldn’t expect much of substance from the general Obama movement. In that case, Ill just have to settle for something more along the lines of “hope” or “change”–I just wish that someone would qualify those terms for once.

For those reasons, this video should also fall under the category of “satire.”

Lastly is the whole ordeal about a MSNBC commentator wondering if the Clinton campaign had been “pimping out” Chelsea Clinton of late. The comment drew the ire of the Clintons, generated controversy, and got David Shuster suspended. Anyways, Keith Olberman took the liberty to apologize on behalf of the network on his primetime show for the inappropriateness of the “pimping” reference. But the Olberman Watch blog called the liberal Murrow-wannabe out on his hypocrisy–in one of his editorial segments in the past year Olberman used the same exact term–”pimping”–to deride the manner in which George Bush was promoting General Petreaus’ endorsement of the Iraqi troop surge.

Nevertheless, I do not see MSNBC giving the same suspending treatment to their primetime man.
